The Bowdoin Chorus and Mozart Mentors Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Antolini ’63 present “Music in Stalin’s Shadow,” a retrospective of choral works written during Stalin’s dictatorship, some on his command, some with his permission and some secretly without his knowledge. Composers include Alexander Alexandrov, Vissarion Shebalín and Nikolai Golovanov. The featured work is Sergei Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky Cantata (1938) with mezzo-soprano soloist Joëlle Morris.
